Every morning when I get into work, I sit down with a cup of tea and spend the first 10-15 minutes of my day reading through the various email newsletters that I’m signed up to.
The updates I receive are mostly from sites that provide content around UX Design, Product design, Web development and then all the other standard guff that you aren’t organised enough to unsubscribe from. For a bit of reference, I’ve included a snapshot of my inbox on the day I started writing this post.
My point is, that whilst most of the newsletters I am subscribed to regularly do include some brilliant stuff that I spend said morning’s reading, there was never anything simple and basic for me when I was first starting out. A lot of the great content out there is aimed at seasoned professionals, and put out there by thought leaders who often have the luxury of working for a flourishing digital agency.
So get to the point..
What I am going to try and create is a site with content about what it’s really like to become a UX designer. All the things I’m picking up (good and bad) along the way and everything I learn that I wish somebody had told me way back when.
I honestly do hope that there are people out there that are either just starting out, looking to get into, or have been doing any want to help out that will find this sort of stuff useful and worth a skim over a cup of tea.
Where do I sign up?
At the time of writing I’m yet to set up any kind of newsletter so you’ll have to settle for my Twitter updates @rosstpope.
